Anti ageing treatments for new mums

Choosing anti ageing treatments if you’ve recently had a baby

For many women it can be difficult to put a stop to your skin rejuvenation and anti ageing treatments because of pregnancy.

It’s of course a given that during pregnancy you will not be suitable for cosmetic procedures such as muscle relaxing injections and dermal filler treatments, but once the baby arrives you may want to get back into your skin health routine.

We have clients from across the West Midlands, including areas such as Derby, Nottingham, Birmigham, Solihull, Leicester and Sutton Coldfield, who trust us with their skin health and anti ageing treatments – before and after pregnancy.

Why can’t pregnant women undergo anti ageing treatments?

This question comes up a lot. As with many things, pregnancy has multiple effects on the body, but the baby’s safety should always be the priority. Whilst non surgical anti ageing treatments are reliable and safe, it’s not advised to administer them during pregnancy, for the safety of the baby.

Similar rules apply to using hair dye and undergoing spa treatments such as massages. If you are confused about your suitability it’s recommended you speak to your GP who will be able to provide clarification.

What can I do to look after my skin during pregnancy?

As you won’t be undergoing cosmetic treatments such as muscle relaxing injections, chemical skin peels, skin tightening or dermal filler treatments during your pregnancy you’ll need to consider alternatives. Solutions that can rejuvenate the skin and help to create a natural healthy glow include skincare and skin rejuvenation facials.

When can I get back to undergoing anti ageing treatments?

This depends on when you give birth and what condition your skin is in. If you wish to undergo muscle relaxing injections, chemical skin peels, skin tightening or dermal filler treatments you will need to seek the advice of a cosmetic doctor.

A consultation is an informal way to ascertain whether or not you’re currently suitable for skin rejuvenation treatments. At APSARAS Clinic in Coventry we offer free 30 minute consultations to new patients – so you have real peace of mind.

Are there any skin rejuvenation treatments for the body as well as the face?

Yes, skin tightening treatments can help to firm and tone lax or loose skin that may have developed as a result of pregnancy. Again, you will only be suitable for these types of skin rejuvenation treatments after the birth, and only when deemed suitable and safe by a cosmetic doctor.
