A non-surgical form of skin rejuvenation treatment, Plexr is ideal for patients seeking a non-surgical alternative to facelift surgery, eye lid reduction and blepharoplasty surgery or neck lift surgery. Treatments usually take 20-30 minutes depending on the area being treated and the severity of the individual case.
Plexr stands for Plasma Exeresis and is a non-ablative technology which can be offered instead of surgery for many patients who previously thought invasive anti-ageing or skin rejuvenation techniques were their only option.
Alternatively known as “Soft Surgery” this energy-assisted form of facial rejuvenation treatment is a revolutionary addition to APSARAS Clinic in Coventry, West Midlands, capable of offering patients the benefits of cosmetic surgery without the invasive, painful techniques.
Whilst Plexr cannot entirely replace surgical procedures such as the facelift, it can offer an alternative for many men and women seeking anti-ageing or skin rejuvenation benefits without the scalpel. In some cases, more than one treatment with Plexr will be needed over a course of weeks or months to get the best results.
It’s also proved specifically successful in the treatment of upper and lower eyelids when used as part of a non-surgical blepharoplasty treatment; an area previously hard to treat without cosmetic surgery. Fine wrinkles can be erased and deeper wrinkles significantly reduced, whilst the skin can be tightened, making it a revolutionary form of upper facial rejuvenation.
Other treatments available using Plexr include active acne treatment and acne scarring reduction, mole removal, the treatment of stretch marks, excess skin removal, keloid scar removal, and age spot, brown spot and hypigmentation removal. Plexr can also be used in dermabrasion treatments.
How does Plexr work?
The Plexr is a contactless hand operated tool with three different device heads that offer various treatments for rejuvenation. Not touching the skin directly, the wireless devices transfer concentrated heat to the skin tissues due to be treated in a process called sublimation.
Plexr uses the difference in voltage between the device and the patient’s skin, and this difference in voltage generates a small electrical stimulation. This in turn causes the sublimation of the fluids contained in superficial part of the skin, without unwanted heat damaging the adjacent tissues.
Plasma is formed which works to tighten the skin, and the heat increases the presence of fibrous tissues and improves the skin’s elasticity, making it an ideal form of treatment for those patients seeking alternatives to facelift surgery, neck lift surgery, or eye lid reduction and blepharoplasty surgery. How much plasma is created is entirely down to which Plexr device is used to treat the patient.
Plexr is CE approved for safety and UK use, and additionally – unlike some laser treatments for skin rejuvenation – Plexr also acts on the superficial layer of the skin preserving the lower layers and minimising damage. Also, thanks to Plexr never directly touching the skin the risk of complications occurring is significantly reduced, making it a safer way to rejuvenate the face or body.
What happens during treatment with Plexr?
This largely depends largely on which area and concerns the patient wishes to treat, but the principles of Plexr treatment are usually fairly universal.
Before treatment with Plexr a full consultation is required with the cosmetic doctor you’ll be undergoing the skin rejuvenation treatment with, to ensure suitability. If more than one treatment session with Plexr is required, you’ll be told in advance.
After ensuring the skin of the treatment area is cleansed a numbing cream will be applied to ensure comfort throughout the treatment. After 15-20 minutes the Plexr treatment can be administered; this should be pain-free and take around half an hour, depending on the area being treated.
In the immediate hours after leaving the clinic it’s advised patients cover up from the sun and apply ice to the treatment area if any swelling occurs – this should subside within 2 days.
After treatment with Plexr, the skin will develop a thin crust-like layer designed to protect the fresh skin below and after 5-7 days this protective layer will naturally come away leaving ‘baby skin’. This new skin can appear delicate and pink in contrast to the rest of the skin, but this develops in coming days to match the rest of the skin, leaving no marks or scars.
It’s advised an SPF is worn and avoiding the sun where possible for a month post treatment. A follow up appointment is made to discuss the healing and results.
